Unclear how to use `set` builtin

λ ion --version
ion 1.0.0-alpha (x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu)
rev ca069ed1c113d8d07d6535c24939389065ce761f

λ set
set: argument 'set' is not recognized. Try adding `--` before it to pass it as argument to the shell script

Hi there. I'm having issues using set properly, and I'm unable to find documentation of a proper usage. I'm trying to add and remove environment variables from my instance, but no matter what syntax I attempt to use I am getting the same argument 'set' is not recognized.
